Born 11 October 1941 at Canton, Illinois, daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred George, Linda enlisted in the Women's Army Corps on 26 July 1961. Linda took her oath of enlistment in Illinois with friends Judie Glad, Phyllis Glad, and Patricia Miller. These close friends graduated from WAC Basic Training with Delta Company 5th Platoon on 29 September 1961 at Fort McClellan, Alabama.
Linda passed away 25 March 1998 in Joliet, Illinois after a long battle with Lupus. Linda was the mother of Terry, Tim and Tom Nance, and grandmother of Allison, Robbie and Kayla Nance. Services were held for Linda on 28 March 1998 at Saint Andrew's Catholic Church in Romeoville, Illinois which, until last year, had been her home for 38 years.
Linda will long be remembered for her service to her Country as well as the courageous battle she fought against Lupus.
Located at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery the WIMSA Memorial was dedicated 18 October 1997 to honor the service of over one million American women to their Country.
