DAVID PRATT

Sergeant & Captain

Born: 1742, Ware, Massachusetts

Died: 12 Sep 1806, Belchertown, Massachusetts

Spouse: Lucy Coolidge

 

Ancestor's Service:

He served seven years as Sergeant, and was made Captain about the time the war closed. David served in Colonel Jonathan Warner's Regiment of Minutemen which marched 20 April 1775 in response to the alarm of 19 April 1775 to Cambridge, was at the Battle of Saratoga, and was present at the Surrender of Bourgoyne. At Stillwater above Albany, he shot a Hessian across the river, and broke his thigh bone. The Hessian remained in this Country after the war was over, and told David, 'It was a damned good shot'. David also served in Captain Jonathan Bardwell's Regiment 1775 and Colonel Elisha Porter's Regiment in 1777.

Born: 4 Apr 1742, Brunswick County, Virginia

Died: 8 Feb 1832, Giles County, Virginia

Spouse: Elizabeth Clayton

Ancestor's Service:

Listed as a Patriot who rendered services during the Revolution under the Commissioners of Provisions Law. Rendered service to Lafayette, Baron von Steuben, General Nelson, General Green, General Washington and others. Gave not only supplies for the Continental troops, but transported the sick, gave provisions and guns.

Died: Abt 1815, Dinwiddie County, Virginia

Ancestor's Service: Public service. Furnished supplies to the Continental Army in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.

JOHN MORGAN

Born: 1725, Prince William County, Virginia

Died: 8 Feb 1787, Sumner County, Tennessee

Spouse: Martha Ann (Nancy) Settle

Ancestor's Service:

Served in the 10th North Carolina Regiment under Captain Railford. Squire John Morgan of Fauquier County, Virginia, Wilks Co, North Carolina & Sumner County, Tennessee was given a Land Grant for 640 acres in Davidson County, Tennessee for his military service.

ISAAC MORGAN

Born: 21 Mar 1757, Fauquier County, Virginia

Died: 1839, Cotton Gin Port, Mississippi

Spouse: Judith Smith

Ancestor's Service:

Served in the 10th North Carolina Regiment under Colonel Abraham Shepard in Bacot's Company. Enlisted 20 Aug 1782 and served 18 months. Given a grant for his military service for 640 acres in Sumner County, Tennessee.

Born: Abt 1730, Northumberland County, Virginia

Died: 19 Apr 1781, Lancaster County, Virginia

Spouse: Mary Shearman

Ancestor's Service:

During the Revolutionary War served as a member of Committee of Safety of Lancaster County, Virginia 1775.

JOSEPH MORSE

Major

Born: 1 Jan 1739, Natick, Massachusetts

Died: 16 Dec 1779, Natick, Massachusetts

Spouse: Rebecca Broad

Ancestor's Service:

Served as a Captain in Colonel Rufus Putnam's 5th Regiment and as a Major under Colonel Bradford of the Continental Army. Died in Natick, Massachusetts after his return from service with the Northern Army. Widow was allowed half pay for seven years which was payable to widows & orphans of officers who were killed or died in service.

JOSIAH BIGELOW

Lieutenant

Born: 30 Jul 1730, Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts

Died: 15 Jul 1810, Waltham, Massachusetts

Spouse: Mary Harrington

Ancestor's Service:

In Weston, Massachusetts served as a Lieutenant in Capt. Israel Whitmore's Artillery Company which marched on the alarm on 19 Apr 1775.
