Col. Marcus Butler Boulware
1892 - 1944(5)?

United States Army WW-I & II

Colonel Marcus Butler Boulware--4/26/1892 - 12/25/1944(5)? He served in WWI where he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross as 1st Lt., Co. "D", 371st Infantry. This was in France during a battle from 9/28/18 - 10/6/18. The family has a postcard that he sent to his mother 9/26/18 telling her of an impending battle that could be the greatest of the war and of all time.
He was a career man. When WWII began he accepted active duty.

HE SURVIVED THE BATAAN DEATH MARCH BUT DIED IN PRISON CAMP!

Editors Note:

This is Colonel Marcus Butler Boulware's memorial page. It was posted on the world wide web, Memorial Day 1998, so all the world may know the reason we do live in this free country.
Memorial Day should remind us that freedom is always under challenge and that freedom is never free. Freedom is important enough to live for, and Freedom is precious enough to die for. Those to whom we remember on Memorial Day, from the patriots of early America to the dead of the wars of this 20th Century, all have played their role in shaping the destiny of our great nation. Let us not forget Colonel Marcus Boulware and others like him who have served our great nation during times of peace and conflict. "All gave some, some gave all". Some like Col. Boulware gave their "last full measure of devotion", we are forever in their debt. We stand with bowed heads and humble hearts for their graves are hallowed places. Their service to God and country will always be remembered. They will not be forgotten!
On Memorial Day, we can pay no higher tribute to our dead, nor render greater service to our great nation, than to instill in others what the true spirit of Memorial Day really is.
It is a day for all Americans to remember those who with the help of God have kept this nation free for you and for me. So that we truly can be one nation under God.
For those such as Colonel Marcus Boulware, who gave "their all" in the service, and others who served and have gone on before us,

THE HONOR & GLORY IS THEIRS, WHAT SO PROUDLY THEY HAILED...
