USS FORRESTAL - AIRCRAFT CARRIER

Gary actually lived onboard the FID (first in defense) from July of 77 till Jan of 81.
FID meaning - James V. Forrestal, the first Secretary of Defense.
A few facts about the Forrestal: She is 1,039 ft long and 252 ft wide, would reach the 80th floor of the Empire State Building lengthwise. Down in the engine room where Gary worked, they could deliver 260,000 horsepower.
Gary made three caribbean cruises and two Mediterranean cruises.
Gary said, "It was fun, like they say, its not just a job, its an adventure!"
